Good Stewardship: A Rewarding Task Text: Matthew 25:14-30 IBCWPM 3/30/05 Preacher: Pastor Jose B. Cabajar
The Bible emphatically reminds us that we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. It is a fact that we are nothing and we own nothing. God owns everything. Unquestionably, we are just stewards of what God has given us in this present and earthly life. Good stewardship gives delight to the Lord. It is a wise step on our part to widen our understanding on how to become good stewards of God’s possessions so we may be pleasing and acceptable in His sight. The parable of the talents offers us an imaginative power to carefully understand what the Lord wants us to perceive concerning the importance of good stewardship. Poor stewardship is always associated with wrong philosophy of life. Wrong thoughts regarding God’s dealings are dangerous ideas that lead a steward to become wicked, slothful, unfruitful and untrustworthy. Avoiding the way of the wicked and slothful servant and taking note of the wisdom of the good and faithful servants make us wise stewards of the things God has given us to manage for His honor and glory. Below are essential things every Christian must know in order to improve his stewardship prowess. (I) The Discriminating Marks Of A Good Steward Matthew 25:14-23 -Resourcefulness …went and traded with the same… -Productiveness …and made them other five talents. …also gained other two. -Meticulousness …Well done… -Faithfulness …good and faithful servant. Reminder: A lazy person has a hazy future.
(II) The Grand Reward Of A Good Steward Matthew 25:21-23 -Promotion I will make thee ruler over many things… -God-given authority …ruler over many things… -Credibility …over many things… -Acceptance …enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Reminder: A good and faithful steward will never lose his grand reward. In I Corinthians 4:2, it is written, Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. We strongly believe that God has given us many good things in life to be well-taken care of while we live, but someday we will give account before Him how we used these God-given gifts, talents and abilities according to His divine plan. What we have today in life may seem insignificant to some, but be sure not to misuse them because God is keeping notes on how we glorify His blessed name through our lives and activities. May the Lord find us faithful servants when He comes.
